Oil specs, filter cross-references, capacity, and drain procedure.

Specifications

Capacity (with filter)
3.1 L
Viscosity
5W-30 or 10W-30
Oil Filter Thread
M20 × 1.5 mm
Service Interval
10,000 km or 6 months
Danger:Do not use 15W-40, 20W-50, or any heavy-grade oil. The elevated oil pressure will blow out the front and rear crankshaft seals. Use 5W-30 or 10W-30 only.

Recommended Oil

Modern API SN or SP full-synthetic 5W-30 outperforms the original SE/SF spec and is the recommended choice for preservation. Check the dipstick before every service — heavily carbonized or sludgy oil signals extended drain intervals or bearing wear.

Drain & Fill Procedure

  1. Warm the engine for a few minutes — warm oil drains faster and carries contaminants out with it. Shut the engine off.
  2. Place a drain pan under the drain plug. Remove the drain plug and allow the oil to drain completely.
  3. Remove the oil filter. Have a rag ready — the filter will still hold oil when you break it loose.
  4. Lightly oil the gasket on the new filter and thread it on by hand until snug, then tighten a further ¾ turn. Do not use a wrench to tighten.
  5. Reinstall the drain plug.
  6. Fill with 3.1 L of the correct oil through the filler cap on top of the engine.
  7. Start the engine and check for leaks at the filter and drain plug. Shut off and recheck the level on the dipstick after a minute.
